7 STEPS TO COMMUNICATE CLEARLY
People love clarity. If you confuse, you lose. It’s all about surviving and thriving…. and conserving calories. If you’re like most architects, engineers or contractors, you’re fed up with spending time and money on communications that don’t work. If you knew what to do differently, you would—but you don’t, and so you feel stuck. Meanwhile, revenues are lagging. Colleagues are confused. Your bottom line isn’t budging. And worst of all, you feel discouraged. Here’s the good news: It doesn’t have to be that way. In this talk, Everest Marketing Services President, Barbara Shuck —a StoryBrand Certified Guide— will share seven simple marketing principles proven to engage colleagues and clients. You’ll walk away knowing how to capture your audience’s attention and compel them to respond. Barbara has spent her career developing communications that help clients stand out. Imagine submitting a proposal with a clear client-focused story about how your firm is the right fit for a project. Imagine a conversation with a colleague where they lean into what you’re saying. Imagine an interview that reflects your professionalism and expertise, where the decision-makers are intrigued with your story... and your score reflects their interest!! Imagine having something clever to say when someone asks you what you do for a living. With 25+ years working for design and construction firms, Barbara understand the frustration of not clearly communicating your differentiators and creating “why us” and “why not them” themes from the consultant’s side of the table. And, because of almost four decades of experience in business, you can count on her to help you communicate clearly, both in writing and verbally. Attend this must-see Acceleration Lab so you can learn 7 Steps to Communicate Clearly. Stop worrying about your communications, and get back to winning at work. Critical Experiences for Young Professionals/Emerging Leaders
To be an effective leader, certain critical experiences are required to develop new skills, embrace differences, expand perspectives and stretch us beyond our comfort zone. Leadership can no longer be identified or developed through a highly-structured competency matrix, but rather driven by key learnings from unique or diverse experiences. By fully embracing and adapting these opportunities, you will be able to maximize your full potential to elevate yourself and ultimately achieve your desired goals or outcomes. In this Skills Acceleration Lab, Jenna Teitenberg, Global Sales and Marketing Specialist with Gilbane Building Company, will share some tips for identifying those critical experiences and how to fully embrace them. Jenna brings over six years of industry experience and also identifies as a young professional/emerging leader. She is actively involved in numerous industry and community organizations, including serving in her current role as President-Elect for the SMPS Chicago Chapter. Virtual Events and Technology
Cindy Roth Elevate Marketing Advisors Elevate Marketing Advisors launched in January of 2020, mere weeks before COVID-19 became part of our vernacular. As a new firm, we were already faced with the anticipated challenges of how to build a business — with the advent of COVID-19, we took the opportunity to create an educational platform of weekly webinars, Caffeine Quarantine, to educate our colleagues on virtual interviewing techniques, how to stand out during social distancing, and maximizing client relationships, among other timely topics. We also formed Marketing/BD and C-suite Cohorts to give our struggling industry a business community where they could safely network, seek counsel from others, and communicate freely about the challenges ahead. Data Management -Make more informed business decisions using your own marketing data
During the last few months I have used my position as a data manager to rethink what will help us better prepare for an uncertain next year. During this Focus-Forward session I will talk about my own experiences and describe ways in which a firm might collect and review their own marketing data. I’ll give examples of how using a firm’s pipeline/leads lists or financials, can help you look not just at how you did in the past, but also look at trends and even future forecasts. Using my own examples, I’ll discuss ways in which you can use your own data to see what is critical to your firm’s success, helping you stay focused or know when you might need to pivot. You don’t need to have a fancy CRM system or a full-time data coordinator to start good data management practices. With just a little time, you can learn to use your existing data to make more informed marketing decisions. This program is copyright 2020 by the Society for Marketing Professional Services Build Business Conference with all rights reserved. Learning Objectives: - Best practices for data collection, management, and analysis. - Different types of data analysis or visualization you might use to help focus your future business decisions when the future is uncertain. - Resources for learning more about marketing information analysis and data visualization.
